Contests
Here are some on-line projects and contests that I have participated in. Note:
some of them are NOT for children.
SCBWI - SCBWI is the Society of Children's Book Writers & Illustrators. They
periodically post writing and illustrating contests on their website. I won or placed
in a couple:
Writing Contest #19 - Santa Claus
Illustrator Contest #25 - The Anti-Valentine
Lyttle Lytton Contest - I am ashamed to report that I received honorable
mentions for both the 2007 and 2009 Lyttle Lytton contests. This is a shorter
version of the Bulwer-Lytton Fiction Contest, which challenges entrants to write
the worst possible introductory sentence to a novel. The Lyttle Lytton contest
offers the same challenge, but the sentence must be 30 words or less.
The New Yorker Cartoon Anti-Caption Contest - I enter this contest every
week. This is a parody of the real New Yorker Cartoon Caption contest. Entrants
are invited to submit the worst possible caption for the cartoon.
