Bernard is quite simply a wonderful magician and entertainer who has the ability to mesmerize audiences whether they are aged five or fifty. I know this because I have had the pleasure of watching Bernard perform at Amelia’s (my daughter’s) 5th, 6th ,7th and 8th birthday parties 

The reasons for Bernard’s success are not in the least magical. He is a perfectionist and absolutely dedicated to his art. He has respect for his audience. He never speaks down to children but rather enters their world of imagination with ease. Children love him. The expressions of wonder on their faces for the duration of his performance are the real stuff of memories. Finally, and obviously, Bernard loves what he does and this colours every aspect of his work and art. 

As I get older it seems to me that times of wonder for both adults and children are increasingly rare to find and, if found, of shorter duration. To see Amelia’s face, and those of her friends, light up, not just for a fleeting moment but for many precious minutes at a stretch, has been quite wonderful for me. This kind of experience has unmistakable and lasting value for all concerned. Our memories of Bernard’s performances over the years remain as clear as a bell. What price can you put on this?
